There were many requirements that I had when I chose the equipment that makes up my cd g karaoke system. The system must be good for both live acoustic performance and karaoke. The system must be compact and have excellent sound quality. The CDG karaoke system should also be able to record multi-track recordings of both live and demo performances.

This may seem like a tall order, but I was able to pick out an excellent system that has performed well for numerous events, both acoustic performances and karaoke. The bulk of the cost of the system is in the speakers, which are Bose L1 Compact Speakers. My CD G Karaoke System: Compact, Quality Sound, Versatile They were roughly $999.00 each and I purchased two of them to give me some flexibility in the size venue that I could tackle. Just one of these speakers is more than adequate for a small bar or restaurant dining room; however, two of them expand the system to a point that I can handle most mid sized venues too. I have used them in a cafeteria at a local school where my daughter performed to karaoke tracks for about a hundred and fifty people and they sounded wonderful! They provide an ample amount of bass and have an all around great sound. Feedback has not been an issue whatsoever and I’ve been extremely happy with my selection. These speakers have an XLR mic input, RCA inputs, a 1/4″ balanced input, and an 1/8″ input for ipods (all of these inputs are high quality, very quiet – I’ve used them all) – you can even daisy chain multiple L1 Compacts! It’s a mini PA set up for karaoke out of the box – buy one of these add a pc with my free karaoke cdg player software solution and some CDG discs or files and you’re rock’n and roll’n! Another thing to note is that these speakers come with their own cases and covers, they are road ready, which is also a big plus.

The mixer that I chose is an Alesis MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 Mixer, My CD G Karaoke System: Compact, Quality Sound, Versatilewhich is a compact, but extremely versatile mixing board. It has an on-board effects processor, which sounds great and is a big plus for karaoke. This board is also a digital audio interface handling 10 tracks in and 2 tracks out of high quality digital audio. The primary reason this is important is due to sound quality. I have a digital connection between my laptop and the mixing board, which provides the highest quality sound for karaoke playback. The fact that this board handles multiple tracks also allows me to use it to record my performances for demos or for Youtube videos.

The rest of the system is as follows: (2) Behringer XM8500 Dynamic Cardioid Microphones, My CD G Karaoke System: Compact, Quality Sound, Versatile(1) Shure SM58-LC Cardioid Microphone My CD G Karaoke System: Compact, Quality Sound, Versatile(I’ve had this microphone since 1986 and it still performs wonderfully!), (1) Dell Laptop, (1) 17″ LCD Monitor, (1) Additional Laptop, (1) iphone, (1) wireless router, and all cables, cords, mic stands, etc…

I do not necessarily use all of this equipment for every performance. In some cases I may simply use one L1 compact, one mic and a laptop. In other cases I may use both L1 compacts, the mixer, three mics, both laptops and the 17″ lcd monitor. In future posts I will detail specific setups and how they integrate with the software I use for playback.
